Tomato 'Granny's Throwing' Solanum lycopersicum L.

A heirloom variety of tomato (syn. 'Periforme Abruzzo') is used in salads and pastas. Mid season variety. Indeterminate, regular leaf plant. Heavily-ribbed flutes & pear-liked shape, capturing the beauty of the heirloom variety. Harvest in 12-14 weeks; yields quite large tomatoes 300g fruit. a handful sized tomato. A variety with not too many seeds.

Tomatoes need an open, sunny position, with plenty of air circulation to thrive. Tomatoes are best planted in a garden bed after a heavy feeder crop, eg. broccoli that had been heavily manured previously. Companion planted with Marigolds and Basil is beneficial.

Sow indoors 6-8 weeks before planting out into the garden, or in the ground Late Winter, early spring. Even early Summer to prevent caterpillars eating them, for an autumn harvest before it gets too cold.
